Educational Programs

“Whoever listens to a witness becomes a witness.” -- Elie Wiesel

Because of its members’ direct personal experiences living through the Holocaust and its aftermath, Kol Israel Foundation is in a unique moral position to articulate lessons learned and how those lessons apply to today’s world. It can help fight intolerance and hate and work to ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten…never

Face to Face

In 2018, Kol Israel acquired the Face to Face Holocaust Education program. This program, housed at Congregation Shaarey Tikvah in Beachwood, offers students an intensive offsite learning experience, including a brief introduction to Judaism, a review of the history of the Holocaust, viewing of an exhibit with trained docents, and an eyewitness presentation by a local Holocaust survivor. It is a flexible and dynamic exhibit/program that can be formatted and adapted to meet your education objectives. In 2019 the program was updated and revised with a new exhibit, interactive activities, and a focus on critical thinking.

Sharing Our Stories

Face to Face is a robust complement to Kol Israel’s Sharing Our Stories program, which provides a video presentation of a Holocaust Survivor’s oral testimony presented by the Survivor’s adult children or grandchildren. These presentations are offered at no cost to schools, universities and community organizations.

Leatrice Rabinsky Education Resource Fund

The Dr. Leatrice B. Rabinsky Holocaust Education Resource Fund will honor the lifetime work and legacy of Dr. Rabinsky, a noted Holocaust scholar who pioneered Holocaust education in public schools dating back to the early 1970s. Her ‘Literature of the Holocaust’ class at Cleveland Heights High School became a model for Holocaust education curriculum on a national level and her ‘Journey of Conscience’ trips with students and Survivors to Poland and Israel were trailblazing efforts that were used as models for the noted March of the Living Holocaust commemoration trips that continue until this day.
