Kristallnacht (November 9, 1938) served as a wake-up call to some European Jews who, until that point, may have thought the sociopolitical climate wasn’t “that bad.” Prior to October 7, 2023, many Israeli and American Jews may have felt similarly about today’s world. Should we have known better?
